ETH Learning Factory Zug: A Hub for Collaboration at Tech Cluster Zug

Zug, March 17, 2026 – The Tech Cluster Zug will soon host the ETH Learning Factory Zug, a new center for learning, research, and practice. This innovative hub aims to unite students from ETH Zurich with apprentices and professionals to tackle real-world industrial and societal challenges. The initiative bridges academic and vocational education, enhancing Switzerland's dual education system.

Backed by ETH Zurich, the Canton of Zug, and the City of Zug, the project will cost CHF 110 million for its initial ten-year phase. Funding agreements have been established with commitments from nine local companies. The ETH Learning Factory aims to foster collaboration through modern facilities, supporting both academic learning and practical workshop experiences.

The project focuses on industrial automation, sustainable systems, and digital learning. It promises substantial benefits for the local economy by providing trained professionals and fostering innovation. Construction is expected to begin in 2027, pending parliamentary and public approval, with operations set to commence by 2029.
