Fire at Eramet Grande Côte: Production suspended and force majeure declared

Stock price chart of ERAMET (EPA:ERA) showing fluctuations.

A fire broke out at Eramet Grande Côte (EGC)'s mineral sands extraction site in Senegal on February 22. Starting in the afternoon, the fire was brought under control without causing any injuries. However, it forced the shutdown of the Wet Concentration Plant, interrupting the production process. With no restart date set, an extended shutdown is planned starting in March 2026. EGC has invoked force majeure clauses with its customers and suppliers. Technical investigations to determine the cause are ongoing. The 2026 production guidance for Heavy Mineral Concentrate has been suspended.
