Eramet's Senegal Mineral Sands Unit Suspended Due to Fire
A fire at Eramet Grande Côte's Wet Concentration Plant (WCP) in Senegal has led to a suspension of operations. The fire, which began on February 22 and was controlled by 8:00 p.m., caused no injuries. However, it halted the production process at the site, with operations set to be fully suspended from March 2026 for an undetermined duration.
As a result, Eramet has declared force majeure to its customers and suppliers and suspended its 2026 Heavy Mineral Concentrate (HMC) production guidance. Initial inspections confirmed that the fire was localized within the first stage of the WCP's screening process, with no damage to the Mineral Separation Plant situated nearby.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the fire's cause. Eramet aims to provide an updated production outlook when more information is available. In the interim, support mechanisms for employees and local communities have been established as safety remains a top priority.
