Eramet signs an agreement with Gabon to develop manganese processing
On July 20, 2026, Eramet signed a memorandum of understanding with Gabon to transform the manganese value chain. This project aims to process up to 700,000 tons of ore per year by 2031. The two parties are considering three industrial scenarios: a manganese oxide plant, the refurbishment of the Moanda Metallurgical Complex, and a new manganese alloy plant. Gabon has committed to providing the necessary energy infrastructure.
The protocol includes the development of a biochar sector using forestry waste, and the creation of the "Made in Gabon" fund to stimulate industrial employment. This fund could generate 3,000 jobs.
