Eramet Joint-Venture Adjusts Production in Indonesia
On February 11, 2026, Eramet announced that its joint venture, PT Weda Bay Nickel (PT WBN), received approval from Indonesian authorities to prepare a Work Plan and Budget (RKAB) for a production and sales volume of 12 Mwmt. This comes in contrast to 32 Mwmt in 2025, later revised to 42 Mwmt in July 2025. The adjustment reflects Indonesia’s strategy to sustainably manage its nickel industry, which has boosted the nickel ore index this year.
PT WBN plans to work closely with local authorities and stakeholders to adapt its operations in North Maluku while seeking a revised production permit for higher volumes, necessary to meet local smelter and HPAL facility demands, potentially exceeding 100 Mwmt. Eramet emphasizes its commitment to sustainable production and positive local economic contributions.
