AI Adoption in Banking: A Growing Preference Among European Consumers
The recent EOS Banking AI Barometer study highlights the growing acceptance of AI in European banking. Notably, 46% of consumers report improved communication with their banks through AI. Additionally, 29% of respondents prefer addressing sensitive financial matters with AI rather than with human staff. Among the younger demographic aged 18-34, this preference increases to 38%. However, the human element remains valued, as 60% of consumers miss the personal touch in AI interactions.
Proactive AI features like alerts for potential overdrafts are desired by 61% of consumers, reflecting a demand for more anticipatory services. Despite these advancements, trust remains a challenge, as only 35-36% feel AI effectively understands or solves their problems. The study indicates a trend towards leveraging AI not just as an information tool but as a proactive financial coach, suggesting significant opportunities for innovation in banking services.
