E.ON Acquires UK Energy Supplier OVO
E.ON has reached an agreement to acquire OVO, a UK energy supplier, enhancing its presence in the significant UK market. This acquisition will add around four million customers to E.ON's existing 5.6 million in the UK, positioning the company to further its innovative energy solutions. The move supports E.ON's strategy to be a leading provider in flexible and customer-focused energy offerings.
The acquisition is set to expand E.ON's digital energy capabilities. With seven million smart meters already deployed, E.ON aims to advance innovations in electricity, heating, and e-mobility, expanding these solutions across Europe. This acquisition focuses on promoting energy flexibility, allowing customers meaningful participation in the energy transition.
The financial elements of the acquisition remain undisclosed and await regulatory approvals, expected to conclude in late 2026. E.ON and OVO will operate independently until then.
