ENGIE and PepsiCo Sign 10-Year Biomethane Deal in the UK
ENGIE has announced a 10-year Biomethane Purchase Agreement with PepsiCo UK, marking the first contract of its kind for the UK food and drink industry. This agreement will see ENGIE construct a new biomethane facility in northern England, with an annual production capacity of 60 GWh, to be used exclusively by PepsiCo. The green gas produced is expected to reduce PepsiCo UK's CO₂ emissions by over 10,900 tonnes annually.
The initiative, commencing in 2027, supports PepsiCo's ongoing decarbonization efforts. It highlights ENGIE's commitment to advancing renewable energy in Europe, contributing towards the company's target of 10 TWh of annual biomethane production capacity. This project complements ENGIE's existing operations in the UK, where it already supplies over 210 GWh of biomethane annually.
