ENGIE Advances Offshore Wind Projects in France
ENGIE, through its joint venture Ocean Winds, has implemented its first two offshore wind projects in France. The Îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier offshore wind farm (EMYN) is now fully operational, featuring 61 fixed-bottom turbines with a capacity of 500 MW, enough to power 800,000 people annually.
Meanwhile, the Gulf of Lion Floating Offshore Wind Farm (EFGL) has generated its first electricity. Featuring three 10 MW floating turbines, EFGL is scheduled for full capacity soon, contributing 110,000 MWh annually — sufficient for 50,000 people. The project emphasizes floating wind technology's potential in deep waters and integrates eco-friendly innovations like artificial marine habitats.
Together, these projects illustrate ENGIE’s capability to drive energy initiatives and reinforce France’s progress towards energy independence. With further developments in progress, ENGIE continues to expand its offshore wind portfolio.
