DB HiTek Advances SiC Technology with 8-Inch MOSFET Process
DB HiTek, a leading South Korean foundry, has achieved a milestone by completing the reliability qualification for its 1,200 V SiC MOSFET process on 8-inch wafers. This positions the company as a pioneer in the 8-inch SiC foundry market. Volume production is anticipated to start in 2027, aimed at enhancing its market presence and customer support.
Silicon carbide is a highly efficient semiconductor material, especially in high-temperature scenarios, suitable for EVs and power equipment. The industry is shifting from 6-inch to 8-inch wafers, which DB HiTek addresses by refining its 8-inch SiC process technology. This transition promises improved efficiency and cost reductions.
The company offers customers Process Design Kits for first- and second-generation SiC processes, with a third-generation kit releasing soon, aiming to expedite product development by over a year. The second-generation ensures low specific on-resistance and high threshold voltage.
