DB Extends Commitment to High Speed Grinding with Vossloh
DB InfraGO has extended its framework agreement with Vossloh for preventive rail maintenance for another year. The collaboration, active since 2023, has utilized High Speed Grinding (HSG) technology on approximately 40,000 kilometers of Deutsche Bahn's tracks without closing any lines. This preventive maintenance is crucial for enhancing track availability across Germany’s rail network.
Imke Kellner, Board Member for Track Infrastructure at DB InfraGO, highlights the benefit of regular rail care through Vossloh’s machines, minimizing operational disruptions and thus benefiting passengers and freight customers. HSG technology allows maintenance to coincide with normal train timetables, adding over 4,800 hours of network capacity.
Oliver Schuster, CEO of Vossloh AG, expressed satisfaction with DB InfraGO’s trust, aiming to further develop the technology to sustainably enhance network reliability. Regular maintenance can extend rail lifespans by up to 100%, significantly reducing defects, construction needs, and noise emissions by ten decibels.
Vossloh integrates in-house digital developments to support automated maintenance planning and execution, featuring transverse profile monitoring, longitudinal profile measurements, crack detection, and live schedule views, forming an information-based maintenance system.
