Bystronic Expands with Acquisition of Coherent Inc.'s Business Unit

Bystronic has signed an agreement to acquire the "Tools for Materials Processing" unit of Coherent Inc. This strategic move aims to push Bystronic into the medical device and semiconductor markets. The acquisition includes rights to the Rofin brand, enhancing Bystronic's laser technology capabilities.

The "Tools for Materials Processing" unit, with 400 employees, generates about USD $100 million annually. Headquartered in Germany, this unit will bolster Bystronic's diversification and innovative capabilities. The deal, pending customary conditions, is expected to finalize shortly.

CEO Domenico Iacovelli expressed enthusiasm for the technological and cultural fit this acquisition brings. The merger will integrate versatile laser technologies, aiding Bystronic's material processing innovations.
