Continental Advances to Final Phase of Realignment with Strong Q2 Results

Stock price chart of Continental AG (EBR:CON) showing fluctuations.

Continental AG has entered the final phase of its strategic realignment following a solid second quarter in 2026. The company reported consolidated sales of €4.4 billion, reflecting a 9.1% decline from Q2 2025. This dip is primarily due to the sale of the Original Equipment Solutions business area. Despite lower sales, the adjusted EBIT rose markedly to €570 million, a 35.1% increase, resulting in an EBIT margin of 12.9%.

Net income saw a decrease to €274 million, down 45.9% year-on-year, largely due to the Aumovio spin-off. However, adjusted free cash flow increased significantly to €216 million. CEO Christian Kötz emphasized the company's progress toward becoming a pure-play tire manufacturer.

The sale of ContiTech to Lone Star Funds, announced in early July, is a pivotal step in this direction. The overall market environment remained subdued, affecting sales, yet ongoing efforts have led to improved profitability and cash flow.
