China and Myanmar Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

During his first official visit to China, Myanmar's President Min Aung Hlaing has initiated new chapters of cooperation between China and Myanmar. Visiting key Chinese infrastructure projects, he expressed eagerness to deepen practical infrastructure partnerships. Through various agreements, the countries aim to strengthen their longstanding “pauk-phaw” friendship.

China remains Myanmar’s largest trade partner, with bilateral trade reaching $19.4 billion in 2025. Structural complementarity exists as China exports equipment and vehicles, and imports Myanmar's agricultural products and minerals. Key Belt and Road projects such as the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor are fostering economic integration.

Security and law enforcement were also on the agenda. Both leaders expressed intent to combat cross-border crimes, enhancing border stability and safeguarding citizens’ interests.
