World Giving Report Highlights Factors Influencing Global Generosity
A new study by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) reveals insights into global donation patterns. The World Giving Report analyzed data from over 60,000 individuals across 105 countries, showcasing trends in generosity. In 2025, 61% of people globally donated to charities or directly to those in need, a slight decrease from 64% two years earlier.
Nigerians top the list, donating 2.8% of their income on average, highlighting Africa and Asia as leading regions in generosity. Age also factors in, as individuals aged 25-44 contribute twice as much income proportionally compared to those over 55. Religious causes garner most support, followed by youth and poverty relief.
Local and national charities are favored by donors over international ones, with societal factors like community belonging influencing giving levels significantly. CAF emphasizes understanding these motivations as key to enhancing civil society resilience.
