G20 in Africa: China's Call for Unity

For the first time, the G20 Leaders' Summit is taking place in Africa, specifically in Johannesburg. This event marks a significant shift in global governance, with developing nations now more centrally involved in decision-making. Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the need for unity in today's geopolitically tense world. He urged G20 members to strengthen the voice of developing countries.

China's commitment to amplifying the Global South's voice is evident. President Xi Jinping has pledged continued support for these nations. Previously, China backed the African Union's permanent G20 membership. Beyond the G20, China has supported BRICS expansion and established the International Organization for Mediation.

China's dedication to an open world economy is clear. It supports multilateralism and opposes unilateralism, having signed 23 free trade agreements to date. The Belt and Road Initiative and new development banks are part of its vision for global integration and growth.
