Borussia Dortmund Reports Stable Q1 Performance Despite World Cup Challenges
Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co. KGaA maintained stable top-line performance in Q1, despite challenges from the 2025 Club World Cup. Sales increased by 0.4% year-over-year to €107 million, with underlying growth at 12.1% when excluding the World Cup effect. This growth was driven by increased home games and a boost in Match Operations and other sales, up 63.3% and 44.9% respectively.
The company's Q1 EBITDA was €40.4 million, a decline of 25.6% from the previous year, primarily due to reduced net transfer income. However, EBITDA excluding transfers showed significant improvement, from €1.4 million to €20.5 million, supported by lower personnel expenses.
Looking ahead, Borussia Dortmund remains optimistic, with the management confirming a fiscal year net profit guidance of €0-10 million and a positive start to their football season. The team is currently undefeated, matching points with Bayern Munich and advancing in both the national cup and international leagues.
