Boris Becker's 1989 U.S. Open Trophy Set for Auction

Prestige Memorabilia has announced the auction of a rare piece of tennis history: Boris Becker's 1989 U.S. Open Singles Trophy. Expected to surpass $350,000, this trophy is notable for being the only known U.S. Open Men's Singles champion trophy from the Open Era available to the public. Becker received it after defeating Ivan Lendl in the final, marking his only U.S. Open title and fourth Grand Slam victory.

The sterling silver trophy, created by Tiffany & Co., stands 14 inches tall and bears an inscription commemorating Becker's achievement. Previously displayed at the International Tennis Hall of Fame, this is a unique opportunity for collectors, as such trophies rarely leave the original winner's possession. Bidding concludes on Sunday, April 12th at TheTennisAuction.com.
