Bluejay Diagnostics Reveals Details of SYMON-II Dataset for Mortality Risk in Sepsis
Bluejay Diagnostics, a company specializing in medical diagnostics, has disclosed preliminary findings from the SYMON-II clinical validation study. This dataset underscores the evaluation of interleukin-6 (IL-6) as a biomarker to ascertain the 28-day mortality risk for sepsis and septic shock patients. The study encompassed 777 participants, with 18% mortality, showcasing a wide range of illness severity.
The study revealed that 56.4% of non-survivors experienced septic shock, compared to 35.8% of survivors. Dr. Mark Feinberg highlighted the importance of analyzing a diverse population to evaluate IL-6's prognostic potential. Notably, earlier SYMON-I provided encouraging signals favoring IL-6 in mortality risk assessments.
Bluejay is advancing its Symphony™ Suite for rapid biomarker assays, although the Symphony™ IL-6 Test has not yet received FDA clearance.
