BioMérieux Introduces Advanced Equine Respiratory Disease Testing

bioMérieux has launched VETFIRE™, a novel PCR kit aimed at enhancing the diagnosis of equine infectious respiratory diseases. This innovative test is designed to deliver accurate results within 20 minutes, providing a crucial tool for equine veterinarians.

The launch comes in response to the significant concerns faced by the equine industry following past respiratory disease outbreaks. VETFIRE™ is equipped to detect seven respiratory pathogens in horses. It supports swift decision-making in treatment and management, crucial for maintaining animal health.

The test, processed via the BIOFIRE® SPOTFIRE® System, is available in the UK, Ireland, and France, with further availability expected. By distinguishing between viral and bacterial infections, the test aids in antibiotic stewardship, ensuring appropriate use of antibiotics.
