Befesa S.A. Reports Strong Q1 2025 Performance
Befesa S.A. announced a significant increase in its Q1 2025 results with net profit rising by 97% year-on-year. Revenue reached €308 million, up 3% compared to Q1 2024 despite maintenance shutdowns. Adjusted EBITDA improved by 15% to €56 million, driven by efficient operations and favorable recycling treatment charges. Operating cash flow more than doubled to €34 million.
Challenges persisted in treated volumes, with a 9% fall in electric arc furnace steel dust and a 4% decrease in aluminium recycled volumes. Yet, strengthened pricing and operational moves mitigated impacts. CEO Asier Zarraonandia highlighted Befesa's strategic expansion in the U.S. and Europe, focusing on capturing growth in EAF steel dust and secondary aluminium sectors.
Despite fluctuating energy costs, such as a rise in electricity prices, the company kept its financial stability. Looking ahead, Befesa maintains a positive 2025 outlook with anticipated EBITDA of €240-€265 million and further leverage reduction. Befesa continues to navigate the geopolitical and market challenges while strengthening its market position.
