Befesa Reports a Strong Second Quarter with 17% EBITDA Growth
Befesa S.A., a leader in the hazardous waste recycling industry, announced its results for the first half of 2026. The company reported a strong second quarter with an adjusted EBITDA increase of 17% to €66 million, reaffirming its full-year guidance. The first half 2026 adjusted EBITDA reached €124 million, an 11% year-on-year increase, driven by substantial growth in EAF steel dust volumes in the US and Europe.
Despite a 2% decline in revenue to €589 million due to unfavorable EUR/USD exchange rates, net profit rose by 12% to €45 million. Lower net leverage, reduced to x2.18, marked nine consecutive quarters of leverage reduction. Befesa maintained strong liquidity with €134 million of cash on hand.
The operational highlights included a 7% increase in EAF steel dust throughput and sustained momentum in the secondary aluminium business. Befesa extended its zinc price hedging to the second half of 2028, securing prices at high levels. The company continues to aim for efficient capital allocation and enhanced shareholder value.
