Slight growth in the Swiss car market in the first half
The Swiss passenger car market saw slight growth in the first half of 2026, with 116,584 new registrations, representing a 3.0% increase compared to the previous year. June alone saw 25,207 new registrations, marking a 15.6% rise compared to 2025, partly due to a favorable calendar effect.
Market electrification is accelerating, with a 20.2% increase for fully electric cars and 24.7% for plug-in hybrids. However, demand for electric vehicles remains below expectations, requiring more favorable framework conditions to stimulate this transition.
