AT&S Expands Kulim Facility to Meet AI-Driven Demand
AT&S Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik AG has announced a significant expansion of its Kulim manufacturing site. This move comes through agreements with AMD and another major technology company. The expansion involves an investment between €1.5 to €2.0 billion, supported by customer commitments, positioning AT&S to address sustained AI-driven demand.
The expansion includes the upgrade of plant 1 and the construction of a new manufacturing site for IC substrate cores and advanced PCBs. CEO Michael Mertin emphasized the company's technological leadership and the trust placed by its customers, highlighting the structural shifts in the semiconductor industry driven by AI.
The semiconductor industry experiences unprecedented demand for advanced substrates, driven by the shift to chiplet-based designs. AT&S expects a revenue growth of 45 to 55% in the financial year 2026/27, with an EBITDA margin of 32 to 37%. The company plans a CAPEX of €1.0 to €1.2 billion, focusing on financial discipline and risk mitigation.
