A&S Resources Secures $6 Billion for Railway to Unlock Vast Iron Ore Reserves
A&S Resources Ltd has secured $6 billion in funding from the Export-Import Bank of India for a railway connecting its iron ore assets in the Central African Republic to the Port of Kribi in Cameroon. This railway is essential to access a significant reserve described as one of the largest undeveloped high-grade iron ore reserves globally, with an estimated in-situ value of $2.5 trillion.
The railway, spanning approximately 1,350 km, addresses infrastructure challenges by providing a direct export route. It will handle up to 250,000 tonnes of cargo daily, with potential to increase capacity. This project can stimulate economic growth in the CAR and Cameroon, offering jobs and wider industrial opportunities.
In partnership with China Railway Sixth Group Co. Ltd, the development follows A&S Resources' strategic agreements covering related logistics and operations, with railway operations set for late 2026.
