18th Lyon Biennale Set to Open Amidst Artistic Exchange

The 18th Lyon Biennale – Contemporary Art is gearing up for its grand opening, with professional preview days scheduled for September 17 and 18, 2026. These days will welcome artists, curators, and other art professionals for an exclusive look at the event before it opens to the public. The Biennale will then be accessible to everyone from September 19 to December 13, 2026, across 11 venues in Lyon.

This year's theme, “Passer d'un rêve à l'autre / To pass from one dream to another,” is curated by Catherine Nichols under the direction of Isabelle Bertolotti. It draws inspiration from Lyon's historical passageways, the traboules, and explores transitions in perception and collective dreams.

The Biennale will showcase the works of 120 artists in diverse settings, from industrial sites to public spaces, aiming to engage audiences in a city-wide artistic journey. The event highlights Lyon's cultural and historical richness, fostering global connections and dialogue.
