Arkema Invests €10 Million in Battery R&D in France
Arkema announced a €10 million investment in its Global Battery Center of Excellence in Oullins-Pierre-Bénite, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. This expansion is part of Arkema's ongoing strategy to enhance its research capabilities in advanced battery materials across its global network.
The investment follows the 2025 launch of a solvent-free battery electrode lab in Normandy and other global investments. Arkema aims to accelerate the development of innovative solutions for next-gen batteries with this enhanced infrastructure, which will modernize and triple the center's operational footprint.
The project enables Arkema's R&D teams to better align with industrial standards and integrate advanced materials into production processes. The expansion is supported by the French Research Tax Credit and the France 2030 program. Arkema's CTO, Armand Ajdari, stated that this marks a major step in supporting the evolving battery market.
