Aramco and Pasqal Unveil Saudi Arabia's First Quantum Computer
Aramco, a leader in energy and chemicals, has partnered with Pasqal to launch Saudi Arabia's first quantum computer and the Middle East's inaugural commercial Quantum Computing as a Service (QCaaS) platform. Located at Aramco's data center in Dhahran, this venture aims to bolster regional expertise in quantum technology, addressing complex challenges in energy and industrial sectors through secure cloud access.
This quantum initiative aligns with SaudiVision2030, aiming to foster innovation-driven growth and job creation. Ahmad O. Al Khowaiter of Aramco emphasized the milestone's significance in progressing energy solutions and optimization efforts. Pasqal's CEO, Wasiq Bokhari, highlighted their role in pioneering practical quantum computing to tackle major industrial challenges.
Since 2019, Pasqal has developed advanced quantum hardware and software, recently achieving significant deployment with Aramco. The partnership facilitates the adoption of quantum technology, enhancing capabilities in various domains like logistics, CO₂ storage, and well placement.
