Altech Advanced Materials AG Secures Funding Confirmation for CERENERGY Battery Project
Altech Advanced Materials AG has announced that its CERENERGY sodium chloride solid-state battery project has received confirmation of eligibility for up to €46.7 million in funding from the German Federal Ministry of Economics. This funding represents 30% of the total expected investment, excluding certain financial costs, for the battery project's construction phase in Schwarze Pumpe, Saxony.
The project falls under the STARK initiative, meant to foster sustainable economic transitions in German coal regions. The innovation, developed with the Fraunhofer Society, aims to produce environmentally friendly batteries using table salt, nickel, and ceramics, avoiding critical materials like lithium and cobalt. Final funding approval is contingent upon further application reviews and budget confirmations by the German Bundestag.
