AL-S Pharma Unveils Promising Phase 2 Results and Phase 3 Plans for AP-101 in ALS
AL-S Pharma presented new findings from its Phase 2 trial of AP-101 at the 2026 NEALS Meeting, highlighting its potential in ALS treatment. The study showed better body-weight preservation in patients receiving AP-101 versus placebo, a significant marker given the association of weight loss with ALS progression and outcomes. Dr. Angela Genge, AL-S Pharma's Chief Medical Officer, emphasized the importance of these results as a measure of clinical response.
The company plans a Phase 3 trial to confirm these results, starting in 2027, involving approximately 300 participants. It will assess AP-101's efficacy and safety, focusing on body weight, survival, and function. AP-101 has already received multiple Orphan Drug designations, which supports its potential as a new treatment option for ALS.
