AIXTRON Chosen for Penn State’s New Semiconductor Facility
AIXTRON SE, known for its deposition equipment in the semiconductor industry, will have its Close Coupled Showerhead™ (CCS) R&D-system featured in Penn State’s new advanced semiconductor lab. This facility at University Park is part of a $4.3 million initiative under the U.S. CHIPS Act, aiming to enhance research in semiconductor technology.
At the heart of the lab, AIXTRON’s CCS system will facilitate the growth of wide-bandgap gallium nitride and two-dimensional materials, paving the way for innovation in power electronics and computing. The facility will serve as both a research hub and a national training platform, supporting collaboration between academia and industry.
This strategic placement is expected to advance Penn State’s capabilities, contributing to developments in electric mobility, renewable energy, and high-performance computing.
