Afreximbank Enhances Ties with Jamaica for Trade Growth
Afreximbank is intensifying its engagement with Jamaica to bolster trade, investment, and industrialisation. The bank organised a roadshow in Kingston to highlight Jamaica's strategic regional role. This initiative follows Jamaica's signing of Afreximbank's Partnership Agreement and the subsequent approval of a $5 billion financing facility for the Caribbean.
The event attracted significant participation and introduced Afreximbank's financing, trade facilitation, and investment solutions to Jamaican stakeholders. The bank aims to deepen its understanding of Jamaica's trade and development priorities.
Hon. Fayval Williams, Jamaica's Minister of Finance, encouraged local engagement with Afreximbank to unlock trade opportunities. Eric Monchu Intong, Afreximbank’s Managing Director, emphasised the potential for Jamaica to reduce import dependence and enhance exports through industrialisation. This reflects the bank's broader commitment to strengthening Africa-Caribbean economic ties.
