ABN AMRO Completes Acquisition of HAL, Strengthening German Market Presence

On July 1, 2025, ABN AMRO Bank N.V. finalized its acquisition of Hauck Aufhäuser Lampe Privatbank AG (HAL), marking a strategic expansion in the German banking sector. This acquisition establishes a new key player in wealth management and corporate banking in Germany, with a two-brand strategy: "Bethmann HAL" for wealth management and "ABN AMRO" for corporate and institutional banking.

The deal, concluded on June 30, 2025, allows ABN AMRO to hold 100% of HAL's shares, expanding their services to affluent clients and corporations. This move supports ABN AMRO’s plan to grow assets under management to €100 billion by 2030, enhancing their European and German footprint.

With a robust management team led by Hans Hanegraaf, ABN AMRO Germany aims for €60 million in annual synergies by 2028. Integration efforts are focused on expanding services, including corporate banking and asset servicing, to create a leading bank in Germany.
