2D Fusion AB Unveils Commercial Clean Nuclear Fusion Power
On November 5, 2026, 2D Fusion AB, a Swedish company, announced the commercial availability of its clean nuclear fusion energy products. The initial deliveries of nuclear fusion power plant reactor elements and control systems are set for Q3 2029. Their first 1 GW plant, featuring these technologies, is expected to commence commercial operation by 2032. The projected total production cost for electricity is estimated at less than €0.02/kWh.
The process sources nuclear fuel from natural water and generates energy without producing radioactive waste, offering helium-4, an inert gas, as a byproduct. Acting CEO PJ Peltola highlights the potential to replace fossil fuels and nuclear fission plants globally within 30 to 40 years.
